Six men and no women have been

executed in the United States in 2017.

William Gerald Mitchell was executed by the state of Mississippi on March 22, 2012.  William was pronounced dead at 6:20 pm CDT, inside the execution chamber at the Mississippi State Penitentiary in Parchman, Mississippi.  William was 61 years of age.  He was executed for the brutal rape and murder of 38-year-old Patty Milliken, on November 21, 1995, in Biloxi, Mississippi.  William spent the last 14 years on Mississippi’s death row.

 

William had a normal childhood, according to family members, and was a member of the boy scouts.  William served with the Army and was stationed in Korea.  According to his step-father, William changed when he came back from Korea.  He also became addicted to drugs.  In 1975, William was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison.  He had been out on parole for 11 months when he murdered Patty.

 

Please pray for peace and healing for the family of Patty Milliken.  Please pray for the family of William Mitchell.
