Jeffrey Demond Williams was executed by the state of Texas on May 15, 2013. Jeffrey was pronounced dead at 6:36 pm CDT, inside the execution chamber located within the Walls Unit of the Huntsville State Penitentiary in Huntsville, Texas. Jeffery was 37 years of age. He was executed for the murder of 39-year-old Houston Police Officer Troy Alan Blando on May 19, 1999, in southwest Houston. Jeffrey shot Troy while the officer was attempting to arrest him for driving a stolen car.
Jeffery grew up in a relatively stable environment with both parents. After graduating high school, he served in the Navy, where he received 30 days in the brig for insubordination and altercation with a supervisor. He received a general discharge under honorable conditions. After the Navy, Jeffrey worked as a delivery truck driver for an auto-parts store and as a night stockman for a grocery store. Jeffrey had previously participated in a robbery shooting earlier that year.
Please pray for peace and healing for the family of Officer Troy Blando. Please pray for the family of Jeffrey Williams. In his final statement, Jeffrey, once again, insisted the shooting was self-defense.
