Eighteen men and no women have been

executed in the United States in 2017.

Robert Charles Gleason, Jr. was executed by the state of Virginia on January 16, 2013.  He was pronounced dead at 9:08 pm, inside the execution chamber at the Greensville Correctional Center in Jarratt, Virginia.  Forty-two-year-old Robert chose to be executed using the electric chair, after waiving his appeals.  Robert was executed or the murder of 63-year-old Harvey Gray Watson, Jr., which occurred on May 8, 2009, in their cell at the Wallen Ridge State Prison.  Robert was serving a life sentence for the murder of trucker Mike Kent Jamerson on May 8, 2007, to cover up a a methamphetamine ring.  After pleading guilty to the death of Harvey, Robert asked for the death penalty.  While awaiting trial at the Red Onion State Prison, a “supremax” facility, Robert killed 26-year-old Aaron Alexander Cooper on July 28, 2010, by strangulation through the wire that separated their recreational cages.  Robert again pled guilty.

 

Robert had a history of substance abuse and depression, although it was determined that he was not suicidal.  Robert had worked for a time in a tattoo parlor prior to being arrested.

 

Please pray for peace for the families of Michael Kent, Harvey Watson, and Aaron Cooper.  Please pray for the family of Robert Gleason.  Robert spent his final hours with his spiritual advisor.
