April 23, 2018: Daily Bible Reading Commentary for Exodus 13-16

Commentary: Following the plague against the firstborn, Israel left Egypt. They forever remembered God’s action that night during the Feast of the Unleavened Bread during Passover. God led the Israelites through the desert, toward the sea. Going by land would have been quicker, but it would have also likely meant war with the Philistines. God continued to protect His people, saving them from the pursing Egyptian army. The Israelites, who had been complaining, were now rejoicing at the Lord’s providence.
