Context: Solomon plans and builds the temple of the Lord. The temple was twice as big as the Tabernacle had been.Solomon received the wood from the King of Tyre because the king respected Solomon's father, David, who wanted but was not allowed to build the temple. This is the temple that King Nebuchadnezzar would destroy in 586 BC.Solomon continued with his building projects, constructing furnishings for the temple, building his own palace, building a second house for himself, and building a palace for the daughter of the Egyptian pharaoh. After Solomon built the temple, he brought the Ark of the Covenant to reside in the temple and dedicated the temple to the Lord. The Lord appeared to Solomon again, asking the Solomon serve Him as David had, with integrity of heart.David made mistakes, we all do.Yet, in his heart, he wanted to serve and please the Lord.We cannot fool God.He knows our heart desires. If we sin, we are to admit our sin and seek the Lord's forgiveness, as David did.
