Context: The letter to the Thessalonians continues with a message of hope and inspiration - a life lived for Christ is a life worth living. A life in Christ is a life set apart, different from the world. In the second half of chapter 4, Paul addresses a disagreement the Thessalonians were having amongst themselves. Paul assures them that it is neither better to be dead or alive when Christ returns - we will all be with Him. The beginning of chapter 5, reminds the reader of Luke 12:39-40. We are to be wary of spiritual drowsiness. We should not become too comfortable in our relationship with Christ, but stay active and alert. The final instructions provided by Paul, Silas, and Timothy, address how believers in Christ should act and ends with a prayer for the Thessalonians and request that the Thessalonians also pray for them.
