Daily Bible Reading for October 29, 2014, with Commentary: Psalm 125-127

Context: All three of today’s psalms are psalms of ascent. Psalm 125 rejoice in the assurance of the Lord. In psalm 126, the Israelites look at the return after the Babylon captivity and to the future deliverance of Israel. Psalm 127 is written by Solomon. The travelers would be arriving at the Temple. Solomon laments on the vanity of a building or a family without the Lord.
World History: The Psalms of Ascent are a group of 15 psalms (120-134), that were sung when the Israelites came to Jerusalem to hold a feast before the Lord.
