Context: Chapter 7 shows that God remembers those who serve Him. Those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior will stand in His presence one day. The remainder of today’s reading covers the great tribulations, which is a result of the seventh and final broken seal. With the breaking of the final seal, seven angels prepared to blow their horns. Chapter 8 and 9 cover the first six trumpet blasts. With each blast a new terror is unleashed, yet people continue to refuse to repent! Chapters 10 and 11 focus on the seventh and final trumpet blast. The final plan of God is about to come to pass. God’s plans do not always come to pass as we might expected. We must be prepared for the good along with the bad. Two witnesses will come to the ungodly world. These witnesses will be ignored, until the seventh angel blows its horn and the final judgement begins.
World History: The book of Revelation can make many people uncomfortable as they read of all the destruction. If you are one of those people, ask yourself why? Some scholars argue that if one is uncomfortable with the idea of judgement, perhaps that person has become more comfortable with the world that with the suffering among the followers of Jesus Christ.
