December 30, 2016: Daily Bible Reading Commentary is Mathew 7:13-14
Today’s Bible passage, Matthew 7:13-14, emphasizes the importance of living a life that mimics the life of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad and easy to travel is the path that leads the way to destruction and eternal loss, and there are many who enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow and difficult to travel is the path that leads the way to [everlasting] life, and there are few who find it. (Matthew 7:13-14, AMP)
Today’s Bible passage follows the same path as yesterdays. In today’s world, it is popular to deceive ourselves by creating our own Gospel. The fact is the Bible is cast in stone. Not a single word can be changed by our desires or our understanding of right and wrong. Matthew 7:13-14 directs us to seek the small gate and the narrow, difficult path; for these lead to eternal life.
The Bible reveals that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. It also teaches that all who genuinely accept Jesus as Lord and Savior of their life become a new creation. Are you a new creation? Are you on the difficult, narrow path that leads through the narrow gate? Allow the Word of God, the Holy Bible, direct your steps and not your own desires, and you will be on the narrow, difficult path, leading to the small gate that leads to eternal life.
