Commentary: So long as we keep our faith in the Lord God, God will keep His word to us, even if it takes longer than we may want or expect. We must be patient, constantly in prayer, listening for the Lord’s instructions, as they are not always so obvious. Both Esau and Jacob had their flaws, which are shown over the birthright issue (birthright is an advantage or special privilege given to the eldest son). Isaac, Jacob, Esau, and Ishmael demonstrate the importance of valuing our heritage and family history.
Focus Verses: 27:1-44 Anyone with siblings can likely relate in some way to Jacob and Esau - although this story is more a what-not-to-do to your siblings. What was the result of the deception? How should family disagreements be handled?
