Commentary: Amos’ introduction is brief before he begins pronouncing judgement on neighboring kingdoms, along with one of their crimes, and on Israel and Judah. Of course, all nations had committed more sins than what was listed by Amos, and their sins continued far into the past. Amos demonstrates whose actions are liked to other actions. He condemns these sinful actions and warns that Israel will be punished for its iniquities.
Focus Verses: 4:13 Oh what a powerful Lord we have! How often are you amazed by the power of the Lord? Why do we need to be reminded of His power?
