June 24, 2021, DAY 173: JOURNEY THROUGH THE BIBLE IN A YEAR: Proverbs 5-6

June 24, 2021

Today’s journey through Proverbs 5-6 deal with adultery, laziness, lack of discipline, and things that God hates.

Ask God for His understanding of Proverbs 5-6. Read Proverbs 5-6. Let’s journey!

King Solomon, son of King David, is believed to be the wisest man who ever lived, with the exception of Jesus Christ.  King Solomon is the author of most of the book of Proverbs, which means wisdom.  Solomon, upon being crowned king, was offered a gift from the Lord.  Already showing wisdom, Solomon asked that the Lord bestow upon him wisdom to rule wisely.  Wisdom is about how to live in a way that honors God and all wisdom comes for the Lord.

Proverbs 5-6: Much of our journey today looks at the harm adultery causes all involved.  Our journey concludes with a look at the peril’s of laziness, and mentions the six things that God hates.  (Proverbs 5:1-6:35)

Following today’s reading, take some time and meditate on a piece of wisdom that stood out to you.  Consider why you are drawn to that piece of wisdom?  Does it go against what the secular world teaches?  What is God trying to teach you through this piece of wisdom?  How can that wisdom be applied to your life?
