PSALMS 111-113
DAY 263: JOURNEY THROGH THE BIBLE IN A YEAR

Today’s journey continues our study of Psalms. The psalms we look at today are all psalms of praise.

Take a moment and pray, asking for understanding of today’s reading. Read Psalms 111-113. Let’s journey!

As we journey through the fifth and final book of Psalms, remember that nearly every psalm can be classified as a psalm of Lament or a psalm of praise. A lament is cry to the Lord, asking Him to do something, most often when we are in pain, confused, or angry. A psalm of praise is a prayer of joy and celebration, thanking the Lord for His work.

Psalms 111-113: The author of today’s psalms are unknown. All three of today’s psalms are praises to the Lord. All three psalms praise different aspects of the Lord God. Let them resonate in your heart. Psalm 113 is the beginning of a collection of psalms known as the Hallel, which are expressions of thanksgiving and joy for a divine redemption. (Psalms 111:1-113:9)

Read chapters 111-113 and ask yourself these questions: Are these psalms of lament or praise? How do you know? What does this psalm teach you about the Lord God? Take a moment and offer up to the Lord God at least one praise and one lament from your own life.
