Day 015: Journey Through the Bible in a Year
Focus Verses for Today: Romans 6:15-18

Before reading, stop and pray, asking that the Lord provide an understanding of Romans 5-6. Read Romans 5-6. Let’s journey!

RomansCommentary: Salvation and peace come through acceptance of Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. One man (Adam) brought sin into the world, and one man (Jesus Christ) offers salvation to the world through grace (forgiveness of our sins). Adam chose to surrender to sin. Jesus chose to obey God. To Jesus, all sin is equal, from the smallest lie to mass murder. We should strive to live apart from the chains of sin, instead being slaves to righteousness. Jesus covers our sins so we are seen as righteous in God’s sight. Without Jesus as our intercessor, God does not see us: God only sees sin.

Focus Verses: Romans 6:15-18 Too many, especially the Biblically uneducated, are under the impression that sin doesn’t matter. One can live their life however they want because all they must do before they die is say the magic words and become saved. How does this passage prove that assumption wrong? Are there any parts of your life that you constantly and willing permit sin, knowing you are saved and will be forgiven?
