Day 019: Journey Through the Bible in a Year
Focus Verses for Today: Job 5:17-18

Ask the Lord for His understanding of Job 5-6. Read Job 5-6. Let’s journey!

JobCommentary: Eliphaz continues speaking and advises Job to appeal to God, reminding him of the many wonders God has performed. Beginning in verse 17, Eliphaz suggests that Job’s suffering is a tool used by God to teach him a lesson. Job begins speaking in chapter 6. He again wishes for death, explaining that he would rather die than risk blaspheming the Lord. Job then reprimands his friends for not being helpful during his time of suffering. He begins highlighting the second theme of the book; insisting that he has not sinned and asking his friends to name the specific sin he committed.

Focus Verses: Job 5:17-18 Rarely does anyone rejoice in suffering, yet we should when it comes from the Lord! What does this mean? During times of trials, God is teaching us a much-needed lesson. No matter our suffering, the Lord will continue to care for us. What is God trying to teach you? How can you be more receptive to His daily instructions?
