Day 028: Journey Through the Bible in a Year
Focus Verses for Today: Matthew 10:1-4
Ask the Lord for His understanding of Matthew 8-10. Read Matthew 8-10. Let’s journey!
Commentary: Jesus completes His Sermon on the Mount and begins performing miracles. The power of faith is demonstrated by a Roman centurion and a sick woman. The Pharisees were highly skeptical and did not like Jesus or His methods. Jesus was disrupting the way things were done and the Pharisees did not like it. In His miracle, Jesus was also demonstrating his authority over sickness and spiritual matters, placing Himself above the Pharisees. Unlike Pharisees, Jesus shows no discrimination between classes or nationalities. Jesus prepares and sends His 12 disciples out to minister on their own, giving them specific instructions and warnings, and the power and authority to drive out evil spirits and heal the sick and lame.
Focus Verses: Matthew 10:1-4 The 12 Disciples are named and sent out on their own. Why was it important for the disciples to go out on their own? How can those lessons be applied to your own life?
