Day 101: Journey Through the Bible in a Year
Focus Verses for Today: 1 Samuel 25:32-34

Take some time with God to ask for His perfect understanding of His word as we continue our journey through 1 Samuel today. Read 1 Samuel 21-25. Let’s journey!

1 SamuelCommentary: David runs from Saul, who is seeking to kill him. David’s actions have dire consequences for those who help him, and even for himself when he does not stop to consider and ask for the Lord’s guidance. Saul also fails to follow the Lord, seeking an outsider to kill David, when the Israelites will not. David is given an opportunity to kill Saul when Saul entered a cave in which David was hiding. David instead cut off a corner of his robe. After Saul left the cave, David confronted Saul, showing him the piece of the robe. Saul recognized that David was indeed the one who was to rule after him. In chapter 25 we see the prudence of not acting out of anger, as David had planned. The Lord sent Abigail to diffuse David’s anger.

Focus Verses: 1 Samuel 25:32-34 – David was acting rashly, out of anger. When confronted with his actions, he was able to see the error of them. How often do you behave like David (during anger and when confronted)? What actions can you take to become less susceptible to acting in anger?
