Day 102: Journey Through the Bible in a Year
Focus Verses for Today: Psalms 42:1-2
Take some time and ask God to reveal His true meaning of Psalms 42-44 as we journey through them today. Read Psalms 42-44. Let’s journey!
Commentary: The authors of today’s psalms are the Sons of Korah (whose story of rebellion against Moses is told in Numbers 16). The Sons of Korah serve two distinct purposes in the Temple: Temple guardians and musicians and singers in the Temple. In the Hebrew Bible, Psalms 42 and 43 are combined, forming one poem. They are psalms that cry out to God and praise Him for all He has done. When everyone else turns from God, we are to trust and rely on Him. Psalm 44 refers to past events, such as the Exodus from Egypt, but also provides a glimpse into the future, before Christ returns again.
Focus Verses: Psalms 42:1-2 – How do you long for the Lord? Do your outward actions show your longing? What can you do to welcome God into your life?
