Day 129: Journey Through the Bible in One Year
Focus Verses for Today: 2 Samuel 12:13-14
Ask the Lord for His meaning of 2 Samuel 10-14. Read 2 Samuel 10-14. Let’s journey!
Commentary: While at war with the Ammonites, David remained in Jerusalem and committed his greatest sin: coveting and taking Bathsheba and murdering her husband. David did not truly understand the gravity of his sin until confronted by Nathan the prophet. He repented and was forgiven, but was still punished. David’s son also committed the sin of lust and raped his half-sister. David fails to intervene in the sins of his children and punish them or prevent further sins. His failure as a father will lead to even more heartbreak.
Focus Verses: 2 Samuel 12:13-14 – David repented for his sin, was forgiven, yet was still punished. What does it mean to be forgiven? Does it mean avoiding punishment? How do you seek forgiveness from others in your life? How do you give forgiveness? Are your actions how the Lord would want you to act?
