Focus Verses for Today: 1 Thessalonians 1:1-3
Ask God for His understanding of 1 Thessalonians 1-3. Read 1 Thessalonians 1-3. Let’s journey!
Commentary: Paul begins his letter as he does many of his others: with his traditional greeting and an expression of the thanks. Paul felt it was important to let others know of their importance. It also teaches us to express our feelings, including gratitude, to the Lord. The Thessalonian church had remained steadfast for the Lord in the face of persecution, causing Paul and Silas to rejoice. Paul was extremely concerned for the fledgling church, as he had to leave them suddenly and was unable to spend as much time with them as he would have liked. He was happy to receive the good news from the church. Paul encourages the Thessalonians to remain strong in their faith.
