Eric King, Arizona
Arizona carried out the execution of Eric John King on March 29, 2011. Eric was pronounced dead at 10:22 am local time, inside the Central Unit execution chamber at the Arizona State Prison Complex – Florence in Florence, Arizona. Eric was 47 years of age. He was executed for the murder of 46-year-old Ron Barman and 61-year-old Richard Butts during a robbery at a Phoenix, Arizona convenience store on December 27, 1989. Eric spent the last 20 years of his life on Arizona’s death row.
Eric’s parents divorced when he was young and his father died when he was 11. Once when Eric misbehaved, his mother put a gun to his head, threatening to kill him if he ever misbehaved again. Eric witnessed his mother being physically abused by her boyfriend. Eric began using drugs and alcohol at a young age. He had previously been convicted of rape and kidnapping.
