Take a moment and pray, asking for understanding of today’s reading. Read 2 Chronicles 21-24. Let’s journey!
Commentary: Today’s reading looks at the reigns of Jehoram, Ahaziah, and Joash who were all kings of Judah. Both Jehoram and Ahaziah, both of the house of Ahab, were considered wicked kings who did not walk with the Lord. Jehoram led the people back into idolatry. Following the death of Ahaziah, Joash was hidden by his mother to later become king. Joash begins his reign by restoring the Temple of the Lord and maintaining a close relationship with the Lord. Unfortunately, Joash did not remain close to the Lord following the death of the priest who raised him. Joash was punished by the Lord for his actions against those who came to warn Joash of his mistakes.
