Before reading Deuteronomy 4-6, pray for understanding of today’s reading. Read Deuteronomy 4-6. Let’s journey!

DeuteronomyCommentary: These are Moses’ final instructions to the Israelites before they cross over into the Promised Land. These instructions are not new but have been previously given to the Israelites. They are reiterated here due to their importance. Moses instructs the Israelites to remain faithful to the Lord. They have already experienced what happens when they turn from the Lord; Moses warns them not to do so again and not to worship false gods. Moses also establishes the cities of refuge and again states the 10 Commandments, given by the Lord and Mt. Sinai. The final chapter of today’s reading stresses the importance of loving the Lord God and how He loves His children.

Focus Verses: Deuteronomy 6:4-9 – How do you love the Lord? Do you love as instructed by these verses? Do you pass on God’s love to others?
