Focus Verses For Today: Psalm 32:1-5

Today’s journey through the book of Psalms shows King David’s commitment to three biblical concepts. The first is the importance of praising God. The second is the importance of understanding our dependence on God – deliverance. The third is the necessity to confess our sins to God.

Take a moment to seek God in prayer. Ask Him to give you His understanding of today’s journey through Psalms 30-32. Ask Him to help you make His desire the desire of your life. Read Psalms 30-32. Let’s journey!

PsalmsPsalm 30-32: Our first psalm today is a psalm of praise! King David praises the Lord for delivering him from whatever circumstance he was facing at the time. It is important to praise the Lord because it acknowledges that you understand what the Lord is doing for you. Don’t forget to praise Him for all things in your life because He is always working even when it does not show up as an “Ah-Ha!” moment. Our next psalm is a Psalm of deliverance. In this Psalm, King David acknowledges that God protects us from, and delivers us from, our enemies. Don’t get confused! Our enemies come in many forms. An enemy could be a mugger waiting to rob you. An enemy could be a sin that you secretly nourish, hiding it from your family and friends, until one day it demands your soul. All of David’s Psalms reveal that he encountered many kinds of enemies throughout his life. It was his personal relationship with God that separated him from others. David knew God. God loved David because David sought God and submitted his ungodly desires to God for deliverance. In our final psalm, King David tells us the importance of acknowledging our sins to God. We are to confess our sins to God. David knows God. David has a relationship with God. David suffered when he allowed unconfessed sin to strain his relationship with God. Confess, and rejoice! (Psalm 30:1-32:11)

Our focus verses for today:

1Blessed is the one
    whose transgressions are forgiven,
    whose sins are covered.
2Blessed is the one
whose sin the Lord does not count against them
and in whose spirit is no deceit.
3When I kept silent,
    my bones wasted away
through my groaning all day long.
4For day and night
    your hand was heavy on me;
my strength was sapped
as in the heat of summer.[b]
5Then I acknowledged my sin to you
and did not cover up my iniquity.
I said, “I will confess
    my transgressions to the Lord.”
And you forgave
    the guilt of my sin.
(Psalm 32:1-5,NIV)

Do you have unconfessed sin in your life? Is your relationship with God strained because of unconfessed sin? Today is the day! Today is your day! Today is the day, your day, to share your unconfessed sin with the Lord. It is simple, it starts like this “Dear Lord, I really need to talk with you about …” The most awesome thing about this, is the Creator of the Universe, the Creator of all that is, the Creator of that which wasn’t, is waiting with open arms to embrace you and forgive all your sin. He loves you more than is possible for the human mind to comprehend. It is time, it is time, it is time, to love Him back.
