Focus Verse For Today: Exodus 33:11a

Today our journey through Exodus focuses on restoration. The Israelites’ journey to restoring their relationship with God.

Ask God for His understanding of Exodus 33-36. Read Exodus 33-36. Let’s journey.

ExodusExodus 33-36: God expresses His anger with the Israelites and His love for Moses. As you have read, God begins restoring His relationship with this “stiff-necked people,’’ by providing a second set of Ten Commandments written on stone, (Moses broke the first set when he found the Israelites engaged in idol worship), and gave instructions on them. Moses brings the Israelites together to prepare for the construction of the Tabernacle. (Exodus 33:1-36:38)

Our focus verse for today:

The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend…
(Exodus 33:11a, NIV)

The Lord would speak to Moses as a friend. That is awesome! It doesn’t mean God was honest with Moses because God is always honest, to friend or foe. It doesn’t mean that God cared for Moses more than another, because God favors no one. We are all equal in God’s eyes. It means Moses spent time with God. It means Moses cultivated a relationship with God. It doesn’t mean Moses was perfect. It doesn’t mean Moses was sin-free. It means Moses sought to know God. It means Moses had a relationship with God. Are you cultivating a relationship with God?
