DAY 285: JOURNEY THROUGH THE BIBLE IN A YEAR

Our journey today through Proverbs focuses on chapters 29-30.

Ask the Lord for His understanding of Proverbs 29-30. Read Proverbs 29-30. Let’s journey!

ProverbsKing Solomon, son of King David, is believed to be the wisest man who ever lived, with the exception of Jesus Christ. King Solomon is the author of most of the book of Proverbs, which means wisdom. Solomon, upon being crowned king, was offered a gift from the Lord. Already showing wisdom, Solomon asked that the Lord bestow upon him wisdom to rule wisely. Wisdom is about how to live in a way that honors God and all wisdom comes from the Lord.

Proverbs 29-30: Proverbs 29 contrasts the folly of opposing the Lord, with the wisdom of following Him. Proverbs 30 begins the Sayings of Agur. It is no longer known who Agur was, however, his proverb shows that he was a man who respected and honored the Lord. (Proverbs 29:1-30:33)

Following today’s reading, take some time and meditate on a piece of wisdom that stood out to you. Consider why you are drawn to that piece of wisdom. Does it go against what the secular world teaches? What is God trying to teach you through this piece of wisdom? How can that wisdom be applied to your life?
