Guadalupe Esparza was executed by the state of Texas on November 16, 2011. Guadalupe was pronounced dead at 6:21 pm CST, inside the Walls Unit execution chamber at the Huntsville State Penitentiary in Huntsville, Texas. Guadalupe was 46 years of age. He was executed for the rape and murder of seven-year-old Alyssa Vasquez on July 30, 1999, in San Antonio, Texas. Guadalupe spent the last 10 years of his life on Texas’ death row.

Guadalupe dropped out of high school after the 10th grade. Guadalupe had a lengthly criminal record as a juvenile and adult. In 1985, he became a registered sex offender, for which he served time. He later served time for possession of cocaine. Shortly before Alyssa’s murder, he attempted to engage in sexual relations with a seven-year-old child. Prior to the murder, Guadalupe worked as a bricklayer, cook, and laborer.
