William Boyd, Alabama

William Glenn Boyd was executed by the state of Alabama on March 31, 2011. William was pronounced dead at 6:23 pm CDT, inside the execution chamber at the Holman Correctional Facility in Atmore, Alabama. Williams was 45 years of age. He was executed for the robbery and murder of 76-year-old Fred Blackmon and his wife 41-year-old Evelyn Blackmon in Anniston, Alabama on March 36, 1986. William’s accomplice, Robert Mislead, received a life sentence for his part in the murder, after testifying against William. The jury for William also recommended a life sentence, however the trial judge overrode them, citing the heinous nature of the crime. William spent the last 24 years of his life on Alabama’s death row.

William did not have a history of alcohol or drug abuse, nor did he appear to have any mental illnesses. William also had an above-average intelligence. During his life, William worked as a dishwasher in a fast food restaurant, as an auto mechanic for a railroad company and as a television satellite technician, however he never remained in his jobs for longer than a year. William also dropped out of school before graduating.
