Commentary:  Paul did not personally know this church, however, he begins his letter with the traditional greeting and reassures the church that he has heard good things about them.  Paul was concerned and was writing to refute the false teachers, who claimed that Jesus was not the Son of God.  Jesus is the Son of God and our link to the Lord.  There is no one, there is nothing equal to Him.  Paul encourages the church to remain faithful and not be swayed by false teachings.  Salvation comes through Christ, no additional physical requirements.

Focus Verses:  1:15-20  Of what is Paul reminding his readers?  Why is this important?  Why is it so often forgotten?  What is the significance?
