Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them. (John 3:36, NIV)

JOHN 3-4

DAY 224: JOURNEY THROUGH THE BIBLE IN A YEAR

Focus Verse For Today: John 3:36

Our journey today through John chapter’s 3 and 4, begins John’s emphasis that a relationship with God, through Jesus, begins with the heart rendering a life that is obedient to the Word: Jesus.

Ask God to reveal His true meaning of John 3 and 4 to you. Read John 3 and 4. Let’s journey!

John 3-4: Our journey today begins with Nicodemus, a member of the Sanhedrin - the Jewish governing body, coming to Jesus after dark to inquire as to who Jesus was and to state His purpose. Nicodemus found himself challenged by Jesus’ response. John the Baptist announces that his role will diminish as Jesus’ role in will increase. Jesus, through a Samaritan woman, brings the good news to the Samaritans. Jesus heals a royal official’s son, the second miracle recorded in John’s gospel. (John 3:1-4:54)

Our focus verse for today:

Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them. (John 3:36, NIV)

The message of our focus verse is a summary of John 3:16-17. It expresses God’s ultimate power, tempered through our decision to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior or reject Him. We are all required to make that decision. Indifference is rejection. If this seems unfair to you maybe you should consider this example. You own a beautiful ranch nestled among the Rocky Mountains. Its views are spectacular and you decide to share those views with others. You do have one rule: No Littering! Those who litterer will be removed from the ranch: banished forever. Your ranch hands catch a litterer and are in the process of removing him from your ranch when you come upon them. You are feeling merciful and approach the litterer. You tell the offender that if they agree to not litter your ranch he may remain and continue to enjoy it. You then ask the litterer what he has decided. It is you ranch. The rules you made are to protect its beauty. The litterer has a decision to make. God created the earth and all that is in it. It was perfect. Adam and Eve broke God’s rule and now you must decide who you will worship. Jesus or yourself!
