US District Judge Nelva Gonzales Romas has ruled that the execution of John Henry Ramirez is to be stayed. Ramirez's current lawyer asked for the execution to be stayed in order to allow time to appoint a new lawyer, as Ramirez has said he no longer wants his current lawyer to represent him. Judge Romas stayed the execution saying that there was not enough time to give Ramirez's request serious consideration prior to his execution. The Texas Attorney General's Office is appealing the stay to the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Please pray for peace and healing for the family of Pablo Castro. Pleas pray for strength for the family of John Ramirez. Please pray that if John is innocent, lacks the competency to be executed, or should not be executed for any other reason, that evidence will be presented prior to the execution. Please pray that John may come to find peace through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, if he has not already.
