Commentary: The authors of today's psalms are the Sons of Korah (whose story of rebellion against Moses is told in Numbers 16). The Sons of Korah serve two distinct purposes in the Temple: Temple guardians and musician and singers in the Temple. In the Hebrew Bible, Psalm 42 and 43 are combined, forming one poem. They are psalms which cry out to God and praise Him for all He has done. When everyone else turns from God, we are to trust and rely on Him. Psalm 44 refers to past events, such as the Exodus from Egypt, but also provides a glimpse into the future, before Christ returns again.
Focus Verses: 43:2-4 Is God your stronghold? Does God ever truly reject us?
Only through a relationship with Jesus Christ can anyone hope to separate themselves from the power of sin in this world. Through Him, all things are made new. For a complete listing of readings, please download our Bible Study.
