Commentary: There were three acceptable offerings that could be made before the Lord and the instructions for each are clear and precise. Important points are frequently emphasized more than once, and there was no room for negotiation. The best is to be given to the Lord, which requires energy and effort! Honoring the Lord is not a checklist; it requires conscious thought and action every day! A piece offering is similar to a burnt offering, however, instead of the entirety of the meat being burned, only the specific portion, a choice portion, was burnt.
Focus Verses: 2:1-10 Why was God so specific in the offerings that could be made? What does this tell us about how we are to honor and glorify Him?
Only through a relationship with Jesus Christ can anyone hope to separate themselves from the power of sin in this world. Through Him, all things are made new. For a complete listing of readings, please download our Bible Study.
