Context: Jesus Christ, a man without sin, suffered for our sin. How then, can we not expect to suffer for our faith in Him? As Christians we should strive to live a life without sin. We are to turn away from the desires of the world and live a life that demonstrates our love for Christ. During our times of suffering, we should act as Christ acted. One of the many reasons it is important to study God’s word. Peter’s final words are first addressed to the elders. They are to be shepherds, witnesses, and examples to the younger. The younger are to be submissive to their elders. All should be humble before the Lord, and maintain self-control, lest Satan gain the advantage. Peter concludes by reminding his readers of the grace of God.
