The state of Oklahoma executed Garry Thomas Allen on November 6, 2012. Garry was pronounced dead at 6:10 pm local time, inside the execution chamber at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester, Oklahoma. Garry was 56 years of age. He was convicted and executed for murdering his estranged fiancée, 24-year-old Lawanna Gail Titsworth. Lawanna was murdered outside a daycare center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on November 21, 1986, in front of their two children. Garry spent the last 24 years of his life on death row in Oklahoma.
Growing up, Garry’s mother was an alcoholic. Garry lived in poverty as a child, often going hungry. As a teenager, Garry had several suicide attempts. As an adult, Garry was known to abuse drugs and alcohol. Garry had been hospitalized for psychological problems while he served in the Navy.
Please pray for peace and healing for the family of Lawanna, especially for the two children who witnessed their mother’s murder. Please pray for the family of Garry. Garry referred to Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior and only Son of God in his final statement.
