Focus Verses For Today: Psalms 68:19-20
Our journey through the book of Psalms, specifically Psalms 66-68, shows us praise collectively, individually, and as a form of thanksgiving for God’s sovereignty, protection, and love.
Ask God for His understanding of Psalms 66-68. Read Psalms 66-68. Let’s journey!
Psalms 66-68: The first two Psalms today are Psalms of thanksgiving and invitation. They begin with praise for all that God has done and continues with a request for all the world to come and see what the God of Israel has done. Our final Psalm is a Psalm of praise and thanksgiving which focuses on deliverance. The Psalm was written during the reign of King Saul and Israel was at war at all its boundaries. The Psalmist calls this chaos – evil confronting God (paraphrased). The Psalmist praised God, Israel’s deliverer. (Psalms 66:1-68:35)
Our focus verses for today:
19 Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior,
who daily bears our burdens.
20 Our God is a God who saves;
from the Sovereign Lord comes escape from death.
(Psalm 68:19-20, NIV)
The Psalmist knew there were no battles too big for God. Possibly, more importantly, the Psalmist knew there were no battles too small for God. The Psalmist tells us that God bears our burdens every day. The Psalmist says that God is a God that saves, and from God, a relationship with God, a personal relationship with God, delivers us from death. Do you have a personal relationship with God?
