Focus Verses For Today: Deuteronomy 22:1-3

Continuing our journey through the final book of law, Deuteronomy, Moses continues to remind the Israelites of how they are to behave in the Promised Land.

Before reading Deuteronomy 20-22, pray for understanding of today’s reading. Read Deuteronomy 20-22. Let’s journey!

DeuteronomyDeuteronomy 20-22: Moses addresses warfare, unsolved murders, and captive women. Moses reminds the Israelites of the rights of firstborn sons and how to handle a rebellious son. Moses discusses various laws, and marriage violations. (Deuteronomy 20:1-22:30)

Our focus verses for today:

If you see your fellow Israelite’s ox or sheep straying, do not ignore it but be sure to take it back to its owner. 2 If they do not live near you or if you do not know who owns it, take it home with you and keep it until they come looking for it. Then give it back. 3 Do the same if you find their donkey or cloak or anything else they have lost. Do not ignore it.
(Deuteronomy 22:1-3, NIV)

We are to be good neighbors. We are to be helpful and courteous, even to those we do not know! We are to help others in whatever way we can. How do you help others? When was the last time you went out of your way to help someone? How can you become more helpful?
