Focus Verse For Today: Deuteronomy 31:6

Continuing our journey through the final book of law, Deuteronomy, Moses reminds the Israelites of God’s promises and what was to come.

Before reading Deuteronomy 29-31, pray for understanding of today’s reading. Read Deuteronomy 29-31. Let’s journey!

DeuteronomyDeuteronomy 29-31: Moses leads the Israelites through a formal recommitment to the covenant between the Israelites and the Lord. God, knowing the weaknesses of His chosen people, has ensured a process for returning to Him and seeking forgiveness. Again, Moses reminds the Israelites to stay focused on the Lord and not turn to other gods. In front of all of Israel, Joshua is appointed as Moses’ successor – Joshua will lead the people into the Promised Land, but they must not forget or abandon the Law of Moses. Before Moses’ death, the Lord instructed Moses to help prepare the Israelites for their future – where they abandoned the Lord and their promises. (Deuteronomy 29:1-31:30)

Our focus verse for today:

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
(Deuteronomy 31:6, NIV)

This verse is reflected in many passages throughout the New Testament. It still holds true today. The Lord is with His children! Always! What problem are you currently dealing with? Have you turned to the Lord?
