Marcel WilliamsMarcel Wayne Williams was executed by the state of Arkansas on Monday, April 24, 2017. Marcel was pronounced dead at 10:33 pm local time, inside the Cummins Unit execution chamber near Varner, Arkansas. He was 46 years of age and executed for the murder of 22-year-old Stacy Rae Errickson on December 5, 1994, in Jacksonville, Arkansas. Marcel spent the last 21 years of his life on Arkansas’ death row.

Marcel had previously been convicted of several burglaries and served a prison sentence.

On November 20, 1994, around 6:45 am, Marcel Williams forced Stacy Errickson, at gunpoint, to let him into her car. Williams drove Stacey to several automated teller machines, forcing her to withdraw money that totaled to $350. Stacy never arrived at work that day, nor did she pick up her child from the babysitter that day.

Williams was arrested on an outstanding warrant on November 29, 1994. Williams had been linked to assaults on two other women. During the 13-hour police questioning, Williams admitted to abducting Stacy, however, he denied sexually assaulting her and assured police, that to the best of his knowledge, she was still alive.

Police discovered Stacy’s body in a shallow grave on December 5, 1994. Two female witnesses testified Williams had followed them from a gas station but abandoned his pursuit when they entered an Air Force base. It is believed that Williams returned to the gas station and abducted Stacy. Stacy died from suffocation.

An execution was scheduled for Marcel Williams on December 14, 2015. His execution was stayed, along with several others, by a judge with the Pulaski County Circuit Court. The execution was stayed due to legal challenges regarding the execution drugs.

Marcel was the second execution on April 24, 2017. Jack Jones was executed approximately two hours before Marcel.

Please pray for peace and healing for the family of Stacy Errickson. Please pray for the strength for the family of Marcel.
