What Is In A Name – Almighty
Almighty
“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.” (Revelation 1:8, NIV)
Do you like group projects? Many people do not because they feel like they end up doing a majority of the work, while other people slack off. But those that are lazy tend to like group projects because the contributions of others make them look good. Many school students find group projects unfair, as the grade for the group rarely shows the effort put in by each individual in the group. Teachers like group projects because it means less overall for them to grade, but they must also work to find a balance to make sure one member of the group is not completely slacking off.
Jesus is God and is equal to God. They are one and the same. They are two separate entities. Are you confused? Does it sound like an oxymoron to you? Don’t worry! You are not alone! The concept of the Trinity – God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit – is one of the most difficult concepts to understand in Christianity.
Each part of the Trinity has their own role, their own purpose to fulfill. All three parts work together in perfect, absolute, and complete harmony. They are all one. They are separate. Unlike in human group projects, there is no bickering, no trying to get away with doing the least amount of work possible. All three work together, with no disruption or ulterior motive, to achieve their shared desire. Together and individually, they are Almighty.
So what does this mean for us? As mentioned earlier, the Trinity is one of the most difficult concepts to grasp as a Christian, if it can even be fully understood with our earthly knowledge. God the Almighty. Jesus the Almighty. The Holy Spirit the Almighty. One in three, three in one. Individually and together they are Almighty. Our God is Almighty beyond our understanding and imagination! How do you see the Trinity as Almighty? How do you see each element of the Trinity as Almighty? Praise the Almighty!
