2020 Vision for Christ

Journey 2020: Vision For Christ – Introduction

What is your vision?  Have you checked it lately?  Let’s look at Peter’s vision!

25 Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. 26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear.
27 But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”
28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”
29 “Come,” he said.
Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”
(Matthew 14:25-31, NIV)

The Forgiveness Foundation Christian Ministries, Inc’s journey for 2020 is developing 20/20 Vision for Christ.  Perfect eyesight is considered 20/20 – shouldn’t we want perfect eyesight for Christ?!  For a moment, Peter had perfect eyesight – it was focused on Jesus Christ and nothing else.  But then he became distracted.  He noticed the wind.  The waves.  The fluttering sails.  The water beneath his feet.  He lost focus.  His eyesight had become clouded.  He began to sink.  Peter refocused his eyes, looked again towards Jesus Christ and was saved.

What is your eyesight?  Are you sinking or walking?

[Jesus] did not say anything to [the crowd] without using a parable.  (Mark 4:34a, NIV)

Journey 2020: Vision for Christ will take us through 20 parables Jesus Christ gave throughout His ministry.  Parables are lessons in the form of a short story – in a time when few people could read and write, they needed to be able to remember what they were taught.  And Jesus did not always provide a clear explanation of the parable – in a time when evening entertainment revolved around spending time with others and talking, parables provided ample conversation and discussion.  The parables given by Jesus were designed to get people talking to discover their meanings!  And ultimately, bring the Lord to the focus of their lives!  20/20 vision!

We, at The Forgiveness Foundation Christian Ministries Inc., want everyone to be able to recognize when in their life they are sinking, and how to overcome it.  We want everyone to be able to maintain 20/20 vision!

Throughout the year we will be posting 20 “Visions” (lessons), each focused on a parable (or maybe two!) given by Jesus.  Our first Vision will be posted on January 15, 2020, with Visions being posted twice a month, on the 1st and 15th, with the exception of Easter and Christmas, for which we will be posting something special!

Much like the wind, the world is a distracting place!  Join us!  Together, we can sharpen our focus, our vision, towards Christ!
