John Henry, Florida

John Ruthell Henry was executed by the state of Florida on June 18, 2014. He was pronounced dead at 7:43 pm local time, inside the execution chamber at the Florida State Prison in Raiford. John was 63 years of age. He was executed for the murder of his estranged wife, 29-year-old Suzanne Henry, and her 5-year-old son Eugene Christian in Pesco County and Hillsborough County, Florida, respectively. The murders occurred on December 22, 1985, after an argument with Suzanne.

John did not have an easy childhood. His mother was beaten while she was pregnant and she also had sickle cell anemia. John sniffed gasoline as a child. As an adult, John was addicted to drugs and alcohol. He had been hospitalized at least once for an attempted suicide. Before the murder of Suzanne and Eugene, John had stabbed and killed another woman.

Please pray for peace and healing for the family of Suzanne and Eugene. Please pray for the family of John Henry. As part of his final statement, John apologized and asked for forgiveness in the name of Jesus Christ.
