Eddie Wayne Davis was executed by the state of Florida on July 10, 2014. He was pronounced dead at 6:43 pm local time, inside the execution chamber at the Florida State Prison near Raiford. He was 45 years of age and executed for the kidnap, rape, and murder of 11-year-old Kimberly Waters, the daughter of his ex-girlfriend, on March 4, 1994, in Lakeland, Florida. Eddie also beat Kimberly before he strangled her to death.

Eddie was raised by an alcoholic father who physically, emotionally, and sexually abused him as a child. He had previously been convicted of grand theft of a motor vehicle. Eddie was drinking heavily the night of the murder. Before his arrest, he had worked as a roofer.

Please pray for peace and healing for the family of Kimberly Waters. Please pray for the family of Eddie Davis. Eddie prayed quietly during the preparations for his execution.
