Joseph Rudolph Wood III was executed by the state of Arizona on July 23, 2014. He was pronounced dead at 3:49 pm local time, inside the execution chamber at the Arizona State Prison Complex – Florence – Central Unit in Florence. He was 55 years of age. Joseph was executed for the double murder of his ex-girlfriend, 29-year-old Debra Dietz, and her father 55-year-old Eugene Dietz, on August 7, 1989, in Tucson, Arizona. The execution took nearly two hours and there are conflicting reports from witnesses as to whether he appeared to be gasping for air.

Joseph’s father was in the military, causing his family to move frequently. Joseph claims his father was an alcoholic. He had a history of substance abuse. Before his arrest in Arizona, Joseph was arrested in Las Vegas, Nevada for assault with a deadly weapon.

Please pray for peace and healing for the family of Eugene and Debra Dietz. Please pray for the family of Joseph Wood. During his final statement, Joseph said he was thankful to have Jesus Christ as his savior.
