Anthony Banks Executed in Oklahoma

Anthony Rozelle Banks was executed by the state of Oklahoma on September 10, 2013. He was pronounced dead at 6:07 pm CDT, inside the execution chamber at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester, Oklahoma. Anthony was 61 years of age. He was executed for the murder abduction, rape, and murder of 24-year-old Sun Kim Travis on June 6, 1979, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Anthony was not connected to Sun’s murder until 18 years later. At that time, Anthony was serving a life sentence for the murder of Tulsa convenience store clerk David Fremin during an armed robbery in 1978.

Anthony was abused as a child. During his childhood, his father put a gun to his head and threatened to “blow off” Anthony’s head if he did not follow the rules.

Please pray for peace and healing for the families of Sun Travis and David Fremin. Please pray for Anthony’s family. During his time in prison, Anthony became a Jehovah’s Witness.
