Mississippi executed William Gerald Mitchell on March 22, 2012. William was pronounced dead at 6:20 pm local time, inside the execution chamber at the Mississippi State Penitentiary in Parchman, Mississippi. William was 61 years of age. He was convicted of and executed for the brutal rape and murder of 38-year-old Patty Milliken, on November 21, 1995, in Biloxi, Mississippi. William spent the last 14 years on Mississippi’s death row.
William had a normal childhood, according to family members, and was a member of the boy scouts. He was stationed in Koria while serving with the Army. According to his step-father, William changed after coming back from Korea. He also became addicted to drugs. In 1975, William was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison. He had been out on parole for 11 months when he murdered Patty.
