Clarence CarterThe state of Ohio carried out the execution of Clarence Carter on April 12, 2011. Clarence was pronounced dead at 10:25 am local time, inside the execution chamber at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Mansfield, Ohio. Clarence was 49 years of age. He was executed for the murder of 33-year-old Johnny Allen, Jr., on January 11, 1989, in the Hamilton County Jail Annex in Cincinnati, Ohio. Clarence beat Johnny to death at the Hamilton County Jail Annex while awaiting sentencing on an aggravated murder charge. Johnny died after two weeks in the hospital. For the last 22 years of his life, Clarence resided on Ohio’s death row.

Clarence did not have an easy childhood. His stepfather would beat him when he stuttered, and his cousin would pay him to fight with other children. Allegedly, Clarence was a “hit man” for a group of Cincinnati drug traffickers.
