Focus Verses For Today: Acts 3:17-20
Today, we continue our journey through the book of Acts, where we follow along with the ministry of Peter and John.
Ask the Lord for His understanding of Acts 3-4. Read Acts 3-4. Let’s journey!
Acts 3-4: We focus today on the ministry of Peter and John. We see that Peter has grown from the man he used to be, the man who rejected Christ, to a man who trusted in the Lord and allowed the Lord to work through him. After Peter heals a lame beggar, he speaks to those in the temple, earning the wrath of the religious leaders, who attempt to prosecute him. Peter and John rejoiced upon their release. We catch a glimpse into the way of life in the early church. (Acts 3:1-4:37)
Our focus verses for today:
17 “Now, fellow Israelites, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did your leaders. 18 But this is how God fulfilled what he had foretold through all the prophets, saying that his Messiah would suffer. 19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, 20 and that he may send the Messiah, who has been appointed for you—even Jesus.
(Acts 3:17-20, NIV)
A true testament to the truth of the message of Christ, it has not much changed since Peter first proclaimed it. “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord…” We are still called to do the same today. When many first experience the grace and mercy of the Lord, they experience the refreshing feeling identified by Peter. Do you remember it? Seek out that feeling again. Speak with the Lord, tell Him your worries and cares. Let Him refresh you once more! If you have not accepted Christ into your life, let today be the day! Repent of your sins. Confess that Jesus is your Savior, that He died and rose again so that you could spend eternity with Him! Be refreshed!
