DAY 103: JOURNEY THROUGH THE BIBLE IN A YEAR

Our journey through Job begins with Job reflecting on his life before Satan’s visitation. Today’s journey concludes with Job ready to give up: Job is in despair.

Take some time to ask God for His understanding of our journey through Job 29-30. Read Job 29-30. Let’s journey!

Job and his friends have each made assumptions about God, about how God rules, and about how justice in the world works. These assumptions are revealed throughout this book. Many of these assumptions continue to be held today!

JobJob 29-30: Job reflects on his life before Satan attacked Job’s family, his health, and possessions. In his own mind, or so his reflections suggest, Job wanted for nothing in any aspect of his life. Job is in despair after Satan attacked his family, his health, and his possessions. Job believed that a righteous man, as he was, would never find himself in the station of life he was currently in. He believed that God, in some way, was responsible for his predicament. Job had no way of knowing that Satan, not God, was responsible for this predicament. (Job 29:1-30:31)

Read chapters 29 and 30, and ask yourself these questions: What assumptions about God and the way He rules are being made by Job? Have you ever felt like everything in your life was ripped away? How did you respond? Have you ever felt like you had everything in the world? How did you respond? Are you seeking to know God?
