DAY 187: JOURNEY THROUGH THE BIBLE IN A YEAR

Our journey continues with a deeper look at wisdom from Proverbs chapters 8 and 9.

Ask God for His understanding of Probers 8-9. Read Proverbs 8-9. Let’s journey!

ProverbsKing Solomon, son of King David, is believed to be the wisest man who ever lived, with the exception of Jesus Christ. King Solomon is the author of most of the book of Proverbs, which means wisdom. Solomon, upon being crowned king, was offered a gift from the Lord. Already showing wisdom, Solomon asked that the Lord bestow upon him wisdom to rule wisely. Wisdom is about how to live in a way that honors God and all wisdom comes from the Lord.

Proverbs 8-9: Our reading for today instructs on the importance of wisdom. It tells us that wisdom is the first thing God created. Before all things, before earth, before Adam and Eve, before all living creatures that inhabit the earth and sea, God created wisdom. What is wisdom? Wisdom is seeking to know God and God’s ways. To those opposed to God’s ways, wisdom is folly. (Proverbs 8:1-9:18)

Following today’s reading, take some time and meditate on a piece of wisdom that stood out to you. Consider why you are drawn to that piece of wisdom. Does it go against what the secular world teaches? What is God trying to teach you through this piece of wisdom? How can that wisdom be applied to your life?
